“Consciousness Precedes Universes” by X U A N

29 Dec

“Consciousness Precedes Universes”, addresses the problem with commonly accepted realities and why it is truly impossible to validate our own presumptions and sensations as absolutes.

Objects become “real” only when observed, but without the presence of an observer, they exist in an undetermined state of probability waves. This leads to the question of whether the external world exists independently of the mind that perceives them, or is the universe a direct creation of the mind.

Are we accommodating to the laws of the universe, or is the universe reacting to our rigid expectations of how we believe should be? Are we pregnant with universes, or have the universes conceived us? Could we be then, the manipulators of our own universes?

Exhibition runs from 27 Dec 2010 to 11 Jan 2011.

pop-up alphabetical book

2 Dec

From the lenticular cover that changes with the angle of your hands, all the way to the Z, ABC3D is as much a work of art as it is a pop-up book. Each of the 26 dimensional letters move and change before your eyes. C turns into D with a snap. M stands at attention. X becomes Y with a flick of the wrist. And then there’s U… Boldly conceived and brilliantly executed with a striking black, red, and white palette, this is a book that readers and art lovers of all ages will treasure for years to come.

I have never thought much about the Boswell Sisters, but thanks to this video playing “Roll On Mississippi Roll On “, I am a convert!

I am absolutely obsessed with chow chows aka bear-dogs at the moment, mainly because they look like miniature pet bears.

making-of ‘spencer tunick installation’ amsterdam

25 Oct

This is the official making-of the Spencer Tunick installation in Amsterdam 2007, produced for Dream Amsterdam Foundation.

“Together with dutch filmdirector Mark de Cloe (‘Het leven uit een dag’) and eight of my interns I shot this film of an installation by American photographer Spencer Tunick. About 2000 people got naked at dawn in the streets of Amsterdam on June 3rd 2007. He did four sessions on several spots: 2000 nudes in Q-park, 100 women on bikes, 100 men in a gasstation and about 15 to 20 men and women in different combinations on a floating bridge at the Rozengracht. Such an amount of nudes together caused quite some uproar in the early morning.. especially the locals we’re surprised to find a bunch of naked people on their doorstep.”
